The Story

Why a separate tool just for YouTube

YouTube isn't another social feed — it's where people learn, listen, and study. A downloader for it has to think differently.

YouTube hosts more long-form, useful, sit-down-and-watch content than any other platform on the internet. A single channel might publish a 90-minute lecture, a 4-minute recipe, a 30-second Short, and a music album playthrough — all in the same week. So when you want to download a YouTube video, the question isn't really "video or image" the way it is on Pinterest or Instagram. The real question is: which format and which quality is right for what you're going to do with it?

If you're saving a meditation track to listen on the bus, you want a small MP3 audio file, not a 1.2 GB 4K video. If you're archiving a tutorial to watch on a TV later, you want 1080p MP4. If you're tight on phone storage but still want video, 360p exists for a reason. The Toolizo YouTube downloader is designed around that decision — which is why every fetch returns several distinct format choices instead of dumping a single mystery file on you.

It works on every URL shape YouTube hands out: full youtube.com/watch?v=… desktop links, shortened youtu.be/… mobile share links, and Shorts (youtube.com/shorts/…) too. There's nothing to install, no Chrome extension to enable, no "premium tier" lurking after three downloads. You paste, you preview, you pick a format, you download. That's it.

Format Guide

Which format should you pick?

A quick decoder for the buttons you'll see after fetching. Pick the one that matches what you're actually going to do with the file.

1080p

Full HD MP4

Highest quality · ~50–250 MB / 10 min

Sharp, crisp, and large. The full-fidelity 1920×1080 video file the way the creator uploaded it — no recompression on our side.

Best for:Saving for a TV, archiving important tutorials, anything you'll keep for years.
720p

HD MP4

Balanced · ~25–120 MB / 10 min

The sweet spot most viewers can't tell apart from 1080p on a phone screen. Half the file size, almost the same visual quality.

Best for:Phone playback, sharing over WhatsApp/Telegram, slower internet downloads.
360p

Light MP4

Tiny & fast · ~8–40 MB / 10 min

Watchable on a small screen, drops-in-the-bucket file size. Useful when storage matters more than every pixel of detail.

Best for:Old phones with little storage, slow connections, quick references you don't keep.
MP3

Audio Only (MP3)

Audio-only · ~3–10 MB / minute

Just the sound, stripped from the video. Plays on every phone, car stereo, smart speaker, and music player you own.

Best for:Music, podcasts, lectures, language audio, meditation tracks, anything you'd listen to with your phone in your pocket.
Walkthrough

Three steps. About twenty seconds.

Designed to be the fastest paste-to-download flow on the open web — no popups, no captcha, no ad-walls between you and your file.

1

Copy the link

Tap Share on the video inside the YouTube app, then लिंक की प्रतिलिपि करें. On desktop, copy the address bar from the watch page. youtu.be, youtube.com/watch, and Shorts URLs all work.

Tip:Don't copy from a playlist URL — open the video itself first.
2

Paste & preview

Drop the URL into the input box at the top of this page and press Fetch. The video starts playing in a few seconds — including the title, channel, and duration so you know it's the right one.

Tip:मार Enter instead of clicking — it's faster.
3

Pick a format & save

Choose 1080p, 720p, 360p, or MP3 audio from the format list under the player. Tap the button and the file lands inside your device's downloads folder — ready for offline use.

Tip:Want just the cover image? Use the Thumbnail button at the bottom of the list.
Real People, Real Reasons

Where this tool actually gets used

Forget marketing copy. These are the situations our analytics — and our inboxes — keep showing us.

Students & learners

Saving a 90-minute lecture for an offline review

A medical student preparing for finals downloads an entire neuroanatomy lecture in 720p MP4 the night before, then watches it on the train without burning their data plan. The chapter is replayable, pausable, and never stalls in a tunnel.

Travellers & commuters

Loading up the phone before a long flight

Before a 12-hour flight, a traveller pulls down four documentaries in 1080p MP4 and a 6-hour ambient music compilation as MP3. No in-flight Wi-Fi needed, no buffering at 35,000 feet, and the music file barely takes any phone storage.

Fitness fans & coaches

Saving a HIIT workout to play in the gym

The gym has terrible signal in the basement weight room. A trainer downloads a 25-minute HIIT routine in 360p MP4 (small enough to AirDrop to clients) so it always plays the moment they hit the floor — no spinning loader between sets.

Language learners

Listening to native conversations as MP3

Someone learning Spanish saves Spanish-language interviews and short documentaries as MP3 audio. They listen during commutes, while cooking, walking the dog — turning every passive moment into language exposure without staring at a screen.

Podcast & audio listeners

Pulling video-podcasts into a regular podcast app

Many shows publish only on YouTube but the listener prefers Pocket Casts or Apple Podcasts. The MP3 export turns the episode into a normal audio file that drops into any podcast workflow, with bookmarks and chapter scrubbing intact.

Creators & researchers

Reference clips for editing & analysis

A video editor downloads three reference clips in 1080p to study pacing, music cues, and transitions for an upcoming project. A researcher pulls the same videos to transcribe quotes for an article — both workflows depend on a clean, intact source file.

People with limited internet

Watching where streaming simply doesn't work

In rural areas, on metered satellite connections, or in countries where YouTube buffers constantly, downloading once and watching offline is the only realistic way to actually consume long videos. The 360p option is built specifically for these conditions.

Privacy & Safety

What we do — and don't — do with your data

A short, no-marketing-fluff explanation of how the tool treats the URLs you paste.

URLs are processed in memory

Your YouTube link travels to our backend, gets resolved, returns the playable file, and is dropped from RAM. There's no log table, no analytics row, nothing tied back to you. We genuinely don't keep what you paste.

No accounts, no fingerprinting

We don't ask for your email, OAuth scope, clipboard, microphone, notification permission, or anything else. The page sets no third-party tracking cookie. Your only identity to us is "anonymous browser tab."

Public videos only

The tool resolves only videos that anyone with the link can already watch. Private videos, members-only uploads, and unlisted videos behind a paywall are intentionally not accessible — and shouldn't be.

प्रो टिप्स

Get more out of every download

Small habits frequent users figure out after the third or fourth download. Skip the learning curve.

01

Match the format to the screen

1080p is overkill on a 5-inch phone screen — your eyes literally can't see the difference. Pick 720p for phones, 1080p for tablets/TVs, and you'll save half the storage with zero quality loss in practice.

02

MP3 is your friend for talking-head content

Lectures, interviews, podcasts, narrated documentaries — anything where the visual barely matters. Saving as MP3 cuts file size by 90% and lets you listen with your phone screen off, which is gentler on battery too.

03

Bookmark this page on your phone home screen

Open it once in Safari/Chrome, hit "Add to Home Screen", and you have a one-tap launcher next to your apps. Combined with iOS/Android's share-sheet "Copy Link" from YouTube, the entire flow becomes Share → Copy → Paste → Download.

04

Don't paste playlist URLs

If your link contains &list= या /playlist?, that's the playlist itself, not a single video. Open the actual video first, then copy the URL — the tool needs a single video ID to resolve.

05

For Shorts: same flow, smaller files

YouTube Shorts always come in vertical resolutions and tend to be small (5–30 MB). They behave exactly like regular videos here — paste the youtube.com/shorts/<id> URL and pick a format like usual.

06

If a download stalls, switch quality, not networks

The 1080p variant is sometimes hosted on a slower CDN edge. If it stalls, drop to 720p — the file usually comes from a different cache and finishes instantly. Network is rarely the actual bottleneck.

Glossary

The words on the buttons, explained

Codec, bitrate, container — quick plain-English definitions so the format names actually mean something.

एमपी4 Container
A "wrapper" file that holds video and audio together. Plays everywhere — Windows Media Player, QuickTime, VLC, every iPhone, every Android. When we say "MP4", that's what's in the box.
MP3 Audio Container
An audio-only file format from the late '90s that became the universal language of music players. We export YouTube audio as MP3 so it'll play in any car stereo, smart speaker, or music app without conversion.
1080p Resolution
1920 pixels wide × 1080 pixels tall. The "p" means "progressive" (every line drawn each frame). This is the highest quality YouTube usually offers without paying for a Premium upload, and what most TVs natively display.
720p Resolution
1280×720 — what YouTube called "HD" before 1080p existed. On a phone screen smaller than a paperback book, you genuinely can't tell it apart from 1080p. The pragmatic default.
360p Resolution
640×360. Soft and small, but watchable. The whole point of this tier is filesize: a 360p hour-long video is around 80 MB instead of the 600 MB it'd be at 1080p.
Shorts Video Type
YouTube's vertical short-form videos (≤ 60 seconds), usually 1080×1920 or 720×1280 — phone-shaped instead of TV-shaped. They download identically to regular videos here, you just get a portrait-oriented file.
Bitrate Quality Knob
How much data per second goes into the video. Higher bitrate = sharper detail and bigger file. We hand you whatever bitrate the original creator uploaded — we don't recompress, so the file is identical to YouTube's source.
Thumbnail Cover Image
The custom image creators design as the video's "poster". Useful as a blog header, a moodboard image, or just to study what makes a video clickable. Saved as a clean JPG at full upload resolution.

Common questions about saving YouTube videos

Twelve quick answers to what people ask most. Skip the ones you already know.

Yes — entirely free, no account, no daily quota for personal use. We don't gate any quality tier behind a paywall. 1080p, 720p, 360p, and MP3 are all available on every fetch where the source video supports them.

Yes. Shorts URLs (the ones with youtube.com/shorts/<id> in the path) are resolved exactly like normal videos. You'll get a vertical 1080×1920 (or 720×1280) MP4 instead of a landscape one, plus the option to extract just the audio if it's a music or voice-over Short.

1080p is the sharpest version YouTube usually offers, ideal for TVs and tablets. 720p is the practical sweet-spot for phones — visually almost identical but half the file size. 360p is the small, watchable, "saving space" tier; perfect when storage matters more than crispness. The tool shows the file size next to each option so you can decide quickly.

The tool pulls the audio track out of the YouTube video and hands you a clean MP3 file. There's no transcoding loss because YouTube ships its audio at very high quality to begin with, and the MP3 export typically lands at around 128–320 kbps depending on the source. It plays in every car stereo, music app, and smart speaker.

No. The tool intentionally only resolves videos that anyone with the link can already view. Private uploads, members-only content, and many age-restricted videos require a logged-in YouTube session — those aren't accessible here, and shouldn't be on any third-party tool.

No. Files are passed through untouched — no logo overlay, no audio sting at the start, no metadata changes. Whatever the original creator uploaded is what you get, including their own watermark or end-card if they baked one in.

Yes. The interface is mobile-first and works across Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. On iOS the file lands in the Files app's Downloads folder, and on Android it goes straight to the Downloads section of the gallery / file manager. From there you can move it to Photos or any music player in one tap.

The tool resolves single videos, not playlists. If your URL contains &list= या /playlist?, open the specific video you want first and copy that URL — usually youtu.be/<id> या youtube.com/watch?v=<id> without the playlist parameter. Each video then downloads individually.

iOS sometimes plays MP4s inline. Long-press the format button and pick लिंक की गई फ़ाइल डाउनलोड करें — the file then saves into the Files app instead of opening as a player. From there you can move it to Photos, Music, or any other app with a tap.

No. The URL hits the backend, the resolver returns the file, and the request is dropped from memory. Toolizo doesn't store a database of past downloads, doesn't tie URLs to IPs, and doesn't share or sell anything you submit.

Because not every YouTube upload offers every quality. A creator who only uploaded a 720p source won't have a 1080p variant available — there's nothing to download at that resolution. The tool only shows formats that actually exist for the video you fetched.

Downloading publicly available YouTube content for personal, non-commercial offline viewing falls in a grey area in many jurisdictions and is explicitly tolerated in some. Republishing, reuploading, or commercially using a creator's video without permission is a different matter — that requires the rights-holder's consent and may violate copyright law and YouTube's Terms of Service. Always credit the creator.
